    TST or IGRA in healthcare workers: The when and the why

     

    Healthcare personnel are at increased risk of tuberculosis (TB) infection. In this webinar, Dr. Wendy Thanassi, professor and Director of Workforce Health at Stanford Medical Center and Hospital, will give an overview of screening healthcare professionals for TB infection. She will discuss the risks of TB infection and latent TB reactivation in the occupational health setting, and describe current testing guidelines. She will also explain the operational and medical differences between the Mantoux/tuberculin skin test (TST) and modern TB blood tests (interferon-gamma release assay tests – IGRAs).

    Il personale sanitario è a maggior rischio di infezione da tubercolosi (TB). In questo webinar, la dott.ssa Wendy Thanassi, professoressa e direttrice della salute della forza lavoro presso lo Stanford Medical Center and Hospital, fornirà una panoramica dello screening degli operatori sanitari per l'infezione da tubercolosi. Discuterà i rischi dell'infezione da tubercolosi e della riattivazione latente della tubercolosi nell'ambiente della salute sul lavoro e descriverà le attuali linee guida per i test. Spiegherà anche le differenze operative e mediche tra il test cutaneo di Mantoux/tubercolina (TST) ed i moderni esami del sangue per la tubercolosi (test di rilascio dell'interferone-gamma - IGRA).
